The Recipe for Success
Beginner's guide to baking a business
MAKE GOOD MONEY AS A BAKER WITHOUT SACRIFICING YOUR LOVE FOR THE KITCHEN

Building a successful home bakery doesn't have to be a guessing game.
In this beginner's guide, I'm going to walk you through the essential "ingredients" your baking business needs to succeed.

I started my own home based bakery in 2015. I loved baking and my dream was to be a wedding cake designer! I'd done cookie sales, and a few orders here and there. But at that point, starting a baking business felt like throwing I was just throwing buttercream at the wall trying to make something stick.

I was unsure how to get customers that weren't just my mom and her friends. No idea what I needed legally to get going. Pricing was a complete shot in the dark fingers-crossed-and-hope-I-get-paid approach. And actually making the orders seemed to take all of my mental energy and way more time than I was planning on.

It took about 4 years for me to go all in and get serious about my business. I stopped trying to get other jobs or make money as a transcriptionist and through rebate apps. I decided I was going to make my business work so I could help support my family.
And I finally put my Bachelor's degree in Food Science Industry Management to good use!

In school, I had studied food production and quality, business finances, marketing, strategy, and entrepreneurship. While in college, I worked at the campus commercial bakery, mixing hundreds of dozens of cookies, brownies and cakes in a giant 140 qt mixer. I also spent time in the catering department and as a food delivery truck driver (actually one of my favorite student jobs!)

Even with all this knowledge and experience, it took a moment to understand how to put it into practice in my own home based bakery where I was calling all the shots. In school, we'd used high level business terms and principles like "assets", "key distributors", "supply & demand" and "business canvas model". But what do those actually mean for a self-employed home baker who just wants to make cakes for people?

Within my first official year of business, even through the 2020 pandemic, I grew my business exponentially- taking on 4-8 clients a week, teaching classes, raising my prices four times, and becoming a reputable baker and designer in Utah with a constant flow of customers. It was absolutely a dream come true!

AND I KNEW THAT SUCCESS WASN'T JUST FOR ME.
The same way you follow a recipe to successfully bake a beautiful chocolate cake, there is a recipe to successfully build a home-based baking business.
The Recipe to Success in Your Business includes 6 key ingredients:

1. Your Plan - Creating a business plan to give you clarity, direction, and momentum
2. Your Product - Fine-tuning your product and production processes
3. Your Prices - Nailing down your prices to cover your costs, labor, and generate profit
4. Your Marketing - Crafting a marketing strategy geared towards your target customer
5. Your Customer Service - Elevating your professionalism and communication skills
6. Your Finance Management - Intentional & strategic management of business finances
This recipe tells you exactly what pieces you need in place if you're going to grow a successful baking biz and make good money with it.
This recipe is where you turn to when things aren't turning out right so you can see what needs to be adjusted to get you back on track.

Fine-tune each of the six ingredients in your business and you will have confidence, clarity, and control to earn real money doing the work you love from home. I easily average at least $2k net income a month from baking (not coaching and selling courses- we're talking actually fired up the oven and baked for someone!).
Thanks to my cake business, we bought our first house, have zero debt (besides our home mortgage), and I have an empowering creative outlet that actually makes me a better momma! It gives me drive and enables me to be home with my kids and control my own schedule like I never would've been able to working a normal 9-5.
And all of it is built on the foundation of your mindset.

You have to actually believe in your dream if you're going to be available for the opportunities. From my experience coaching thousands of bakers over the years, I've come to realize that most of the barriers you believe stand in your way are actually just projections of your own fear.
If you can let go of that fear, you will move forward, you will put effort in, you will keep trying, and you will see success.
So what do I do now?
You can spend the next several years trying to master these concepts on your own.

Or you can skip ahead on the learning curve and master it now.

For the next seven days I'll coach you through each of these "ingredients" in the recipe for business success, and help you build your sales, increase your profit, and up your confidence as a business owner! And it's absolutely free <3
